London, England, United Kingdom (4E) - The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are set to take the field for the first-ever major league baseball game to be held Saturday at London Stadium.

The most established rivalry in U.S. sports will be played out over two days, as the teams will also play each other Sunday at the 66,000 seat stadium, which took just over three weeks to be baseball-ready.

Over a quarter-million fans have attended the four total previous NFL or NBA games in London, so MLB is hoping to continue the trend of building the interest of American sports across the pond.

The homer-happy Yankees have blasted round-trippers in an MLB record 28 straight games, while the Red Sox are the defending World Series champions.

It's shaping into a worldwide event, as Stubhub reported that fans from 44 U.S. states and 27 different countires purchased tickets to attend, according to the BBC.

Fifty different food vendors are expected at London Stadium, with New England clam chowder and chicken wings among the items to be sold.
