Toronto, ON., Canada (4E) - Two people were shot and seriously wounded at Nathan Phillips Square Monday afternoon during the Toronto Raptors celebration of their recently won NBA championship.
Two people were arrested and two firearms were recovered though the rally continued shortly after many fans had scrambled to get out of harm's way.
A "significant number of people" fled the scene, a police spokesperson said, when the shooting broke out at around 4 p.m.
Within the hour, however, no other suspects were at large according to police.
Rapper Drake, Toronto Mayor John Tory and Prime Minister and Justin Trudeau among others were on hand to take part in the celebration of the team's first title in franchise history.
Raptors players arrived about five hours via a journey through the city where they were met by a park filled with onlookers and supporters.
